In this service callback is initiated by making a call from a regular or mobile phone to the provider’s access number. User calls the particular number and after hearing the ring tone hangs up (if user does not hang up, the system will automatically terminate the call after the set time). Connection is not carried out so user is not charged by the telecommunication operator. Depending on the set up, usually within a few seconds from the time the call is initiated, VoipSwitch calls back the user inquiring the phone number he/she wants to connect with. After dialing the desired number VoipSwitch connects user’s number and dialed number. If the connection does not succeed, e.g. the line is busy or there is no answer, user is requested to dial the number again. Also, if the called party terminates the connection, user can call another number without the necessity to initiate the callback service again.
Authorization is conducted based on the caller ID (ANI) of the phone that was used to dial the access number. Several telephone numbers, which can be used to initiate callback service, can be assigned to the user’s account. It is also possible to set one number as a default number i.e. the number that system will always call back to, regardless of the phone number the call was initiated from. For instance user initiates the call from the mobile phone and VoipSwitch, after concluding the authorization process, calls back on the regular phone set as default.
User has the option of assigning the number to the account through the website or by sending SMS message (provided the SMS service is active).
Following is the structure of the SMS that registers the phone number:
U.callback P.pass R.48600316058
Where: u – user name, p-password, r-user’s phone number
The process of assigning the phone number through the website is analogous with the SMS callback service. The same phone numbers can be utilized for both services. In addition, user can access the current information on the history of calls performed.

Access number can be managed two ways:

· Using h323 gateway or SIP with PSTN interface

· Obtaining DID service with the phone number from a provider

In the first option gateway has to be configured so the traffic coming from PSTN goes through IP to VoipSwitch. It is important that gateway has the ability to send callerID (ANI).
In the second option it is not necessary to have any type of equipment to implement this service. DID carrier transfers all the incoming calls for the particular number, through Internet, to chosen IP address – in this case VoipSwitch. Connection can be transfer both in h323 and SIP protocols.
